Latehar Court turned into a battle field after the clash between Police and Tana Bhagat, Seven jawans including Inspector injured.
Latehar: Tana Bhagat, under the banner of All India Tana Bhagat Sangh created a brawl in the Latehar Court premises on Monday. They also clashed with the police. Seven policemen including the inspector were injured. Seeing the situation deteriorating, the police fired tear gas shells, water cannon,aerial firing and mild lathi charge were also conducted. After this Tana Bhagat left from there. During this entire uproar, judicial work in Latehar was disrupted for about five hours.
Earlier, Tana Bhagat took out a procession and surrounded the Latehar Civil Court. The office of the Principal District Judge was locked, raising slogans regarding closure of courts. Along with this, there was a riot in the court premises. The police tried to convince them but the protesters were adamant on the demand to call the judge.
When the police tried to remove them from the court premises, they got enraged and started pelting stones, several policemen were injured with a slingshot, as well as damaged a PCR van.
During the clash between Tana Bhagats and the police, the entire area turned into a battlefield for some time. Vehicles passing through the main road next to it stopped everywhere. Many people fled leaving their vehicles in the stampede. Latehar police station inspector Amit Kumar along with Satnarayan Urao, Kumari Amit Lakshmi, Anju Rose Khalkho, Manorama Kumari received serious injuries in the clash.
All the injured are being treated at Sadar Hospital. Judicial work was disrupted for 5 hours during the protest. Tana Bhagats had closed all the roads. The police evacuated all the judicial officers through the back way. As a precautionary measure, the police have increased security at the residence of judicial officers.
The Jharkhand High Court has sought a report on Monday’s uproar in the Latehar Behavioral Court. After the incident in the court premises, the Principal District Judge of Latehar has informed the High Court about the incident. The High Court has summoned the full report of the uproar.
Detailed information has also been sought about the action of the police after the incident. The Registrar General of the High Court said that at present, the Civil Court is on holiday. Vacation court is running, due to which less number of judicial officers were present in the court. Security has been beefed up at the court and the residence of judicial officers following the incident.
